The Weekly Weather Forecast. What's Heading Out Way Over The Next Week For A nation’s climate, staggering through spring like it’s forgotten its PIN.

Friday (15 May)

Britain wakes to a sky the colour of unwashed Tupperware. The drizzle arrives early, apologises profusely, then refuses to leave. Commuters pretend it’s “fresh air” while secretly Googling Spain.

Saturday (16 May)

The sun pops out briefly, like a celebrity doing community service. Barbecues are lit, optimism spikes, and someone inevitably says “summer’s here!” before being hit by a gust strong enough to relocate their sausages.

Sunday (17 May)

The heavens open just in time for family outings. Britain collectively decides to “just have a quiet one” while staring at the window like it owes them money.

Monday (18 May)

The week begins with the meteorological equivalent of a sigh. Umbrellas are lost, spirits dampened, and the nation’s productivity drops to “let’s just get through it.”

Tuesday (19 May)

A brief flirtation with joy. The sun teases Britain, prompting office workers to eat lunch outside and immediately regret it when the wind steals their crisps.

Wednesday (20 May)

The weather can’t decide what it wants, much like the government. Expect confusion, mild dampness, and at least one person declaring “it’s muggy” with misplaced authority.

Thursday (21 May)

A surprisingly competent day. The sun behaves, the rain takes a break, and Britain briefly remembers what happiness feels like before realising it’s Friday tomorrow and everything will start again.

WEEKLY NATIONAL MOOD INDEX.

- Optimism: Peaks Saturday, collapses Sunday, limps through Monday.
- Rain: Appears whenever you make plans.
- Temperature: “Not bad” but “not great.”
- Morale: Improves only when everyone agrees to stop pretending it’s summer.
